Google is shutting down protection: android 12 declared obsolete

If your smartphone is running Android 12 or an earlier version, it's time to update your system or consider getting a new device. Google is implementing changes requiring that devices on Android 13 and above have received a security update within the past year. This is especially important for apps with high security demands-such as banking, financial, and enterprise apps. The update blocks sensitive functions, like money transfers, if the system isn’t secure.

Currently, more than half of all active Android devices still haven’t been updated to Android 13. Additionally, one-third of smartphones have completely lost Google support, making them vulnerable to attacks. Around 200 million users continue to use devices running Android 12 or 12L (for foldables and large screens), which no longer receive security updates. While some manufacturers may temporarily provide patches, this isn't guaranteed.
