The rollout of One UI 7 has turned into one of Samsung’s most embarrassing missteps in recent years. While One UI 8 is expected to launch this summer alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, Samsung is still struggling to properly deliver One UI 7 based on Android 15.
After multiple delays, the update finally began on April 7, but US users had to wait three more days. Then, Samsung halted the rollout due to a major bug missed during testing. Fortunately, the issue has now been resolved, and a Samsung rep confirmed on Korean community forums that the rollout will resume soon, though no exact date was given.
Samsung faced heavy criticism not just for the delay but also for limiting availability: only recent flagships like the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 will receive the update in April. Everyone else will have to wait until May or June, depending on their device.
By the time the rollout is complete, One UI 8 will be out with the new Fold and Flip. The big question: how long will it take Samsung to push the next update to those still waiting for this one? If history repeats, it could be months.
