Huawei is back to its twice-a-year flagship release cycle. The former photo-centric “P-series” has now evolved into the Pura line. Traditionally launched in Q1, the Pura 80 series is delayed, with the latest rumors pointing to a release in June or July. Some reports even suggest Huawei might skip the Pura line altogether this year.
The Pura 80 is expected to run on a refined Kirin chipset optimized for power efficiency. The phone will feature a 1-inch camera sensor, promising excellent low-light photography. A second lens with variable aperture will be added, not just to the main sensor, but also to the ultra-wide camera, allowing users to adjust the aperture manually.
Huawei's second flagship line, the Mate series, usually drops in Q4 and showcases the company’s latest innovations. According to leaker @DirectorShiGuan, the upcoming Mate 80 lineup will include two compact models with 6.3-inch and 6.5-inch displays, while the standard Mate 80 will feature a 6.7-inch OLED screen. This move is aimed at bringing flagship features to smaller devices and more affordable price points.
Unlike the Mate 70 lineup, which mixed flat and curved screens, the entire Mate 80 series will use flat displays. Expect LTPO OLED panels with 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 2500 nits brightness, and second-gen Kunlun Glass, Huawei’s custom drop-resistant solution.
