Oppo unveils rugged Reno 14 lineup featuring unreleased chipset

Oppo has launched its latest rugged smartphones - the Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro. Both devices offer a solid set of specifications and remain competitively priced, with only a slight increase over the previous Reno 13 series.

The Reno 14 Pro stands out as the more advanced model, debuting with MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8450 processor - a chipset that has not yet been officially announced. This chip is the successor to the Dimensity 8350, which powered the Reno 13 and 13 Pro. Interestingly, the standard Reno 14 retains the older Dimensity 8350, despite being priced slightly higher than its predecessor.

Oppo continues its trend of pioneering MediaTek chips, with the Reno 14 Pro becoming the first smartphone to feature the Dimensity 8450. Similarly, the Reno 13 series previously introduced the Dimensity 8350 to the market.

Camera upgrades are also evident. The Reno 14 Pro features a triple 50-megapixel camera setup, including a main, periscope telephoto, and ultra-wide lens. The base model includes a dual 50-megapixel system (main and telephoto) along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. On the front, both models sport a high-resolution 50-megapixel selfie camera, capable of recording 4K video at 60 frames per second.

Display sizes differ slightly: the Reno 14 comes with a 6.59-inch FHD+ screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and Crystal Shield Glass protection. The Pro variant increases the size to 6.83 inches, with a higher 1272p+ resolution, maintaining the same refresh rate and glass durability.

Battery capacity is another differentiator. The Reno 14 Pro includes a 6,200 mAh battery, supporting 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The standard model has a 6,000 mAh battery with 80W wired charging only.
