Samsung has so far managed to avoid major consequences from Donald Trump's tariff policies, but in the long run, the company may lose market share in the US.
This week, Apple faced a 10% tariff on goods imported from China, where more than 85% of iPhones are manufactured. Previously, Apple had managed to avoid such taxes, but now the company risks price increases.
Trump also announced a 25% tariff on products from Mexico and Canada, though its implementation is currently on hold. Companies typically pass part of the tax burden onto consumers, and if Apple fails to get the tariff waived, iPhone prices in the US could rise. This could, in turn, make Samsung smartphones more competitive.
According to South Korea’s Chosunbiz, Trump's future policies could harm Samsung. In the past, he has proposed tariffs on all countries, and his "America First" strategy could lead to Apple being exempted from taxes on Chinese imports, creating additional challenges for Samsung.
