Apple is reportedly reshaping its iPhone launch strategy, aiming to better match the release cycles of Samsung and Google.
According to recent leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone are set to launch as usual in September 2026. In contrast, the standard iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e, and possibly the iPhone Air 2 are shifting to early 2027.

If Apple follows the pattern established by the latest e-series models, the base iPhone 18 is most likely to debut in February or March 2027. Mark Gurman, however, notes that Apple may adopt a new formula: releasing non-Pro models roughly six months after the Pro lineup. This approach could move the launch window to April 2027, though this scenario is considered less probable.
Given Apple’s strategy to align more closely with competitors, February remains the strongest candidate. Samsung typically unveils its Galaxy S flagships in February, making it the most realistic timeframe for the standard iPhone 18 to hit the market.
