Oppo's new flagship, the Find X8 Ultra, proves that first impressions can be deceiving. While its exterior may appear modest with a clean, elevated design, the real power lies within. Packed with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 16GB of RAM, and an impressive penta-camera setup, this device stands out in the crowded smartphone market. Add a 6,100mAh battery and 100W fast charging, and you’ve got a superphone that challenges rivals like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra adopts a minimalistic design, combining a flat aluminum frame with a frosted glass back. At just 8.78 mm, it’s impressively slim for the hardware it houses. Oppo claims it’s the thinnest phone with a 1-inch sensor, and it competes closely with the iPhone and Galaxy lines in terms of thickness. The Action Shortcut button on the side provides customizable functions, much like Apple's iPhone 16.
The rear camera's Cosmos Ring is a standout design feature, though it can make the phone harder to grip comfortably. The device comes in Matte Black, Pure White, and Shell Pink, all with a silky matte finish. It’s also rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance, ensuring protection from high-pressure water jets.
The 6.8-inch AMOLED display is standard for high-end Android phones, offering a 1440 x 3168 resolution, dynamic 1-120Hz refresh rate, and impressive 1600-nit peak brightness. Though the peak brightness lags slightly behind rivals like Xiaomi 15 Ultra, it still delivers excellent legibility. Oppo’s display is slightly colder by default, but offers various customization options for warmth and color tone adjustments.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra shines in the camera department, earning top marks in PhoneArena’s custom Camera Score tests. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 3X periscope, a 6X telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultrawide. Oppo collaborates with Hasselblad for tuning, ensuring accurate colors and natural detail, even in low light. The 2X optical zoom, portrait mode, and macro photography capabilities make it a versatile shooter.
The 6X zoom and hybrid zoom capabilities push the limits of the device’s optical performance. Video quality is excellent, supporting 4K60fps and 4K120fps, with superb sharpness and dynamic range.
With the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra offers top-tier performance. The phone is equipped with 12GB of expandable RAM, up to 28GB, thanks to Oppo’s memory expansion feature. Benchmark tests place it near the top of the rankings, behind only the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Running ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra offers a feature-rich and customizable experience. However, it’s worth noting that the device is primarily targeted at the Chinese market, with preloaded apps and features designed for local users, which could be inconvenient for international buyers. Oppo promises five years of major Android updates and six years of security support.
Despite its slim profile, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra houses a massive 6,100mAh battery. In real-world testing, it delivers excellent performance, including nearly 24 hours of web browsing and 13 hours of 3D gaming. Fast charging is also a highlight, thanks to its 100W charger.
Audio quality is impressive with dual stereo speakers that deliver loud, distortion-free sound, while the haptics are strong and precise, matching flagship standards like those of Samsung and Apple.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is a top contender in the Android flagship category. It combines understated design with powerful hardware, stellar camera performance, and long-lasting battery life. If you're looking for a premium device with exceptional performance, this is an excellent choice.
